Scholarships in Germany

Germany is considered to have one of the best conditions to pursue a degree as education is truly budget-friendly in comparison with other study destinations around the world. But, the Cost of Living in Germany can be not-so-budget friendly, it has been estimated that an average student in Germany will spend around 853€ per month. As this could be a problem that the international students might have to face, some programs are offered to students, where they offer an opportunity to be awarded scholarships. Here are a few scholarship programs:

1.DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) Scholarship Program

DAAD is an organization that looks after Higher Education Institutes and International Academic Relations. This scholarship is awarded to students that wish to get a degree in a full-time course. To be eligible for this scholarship applicants should’ve completed their bachelor's in the last 6 years and should’ve 2 years of proven work experience. Postgraduate students get €850/month, while Doctorate students get €1200/month as stipend amount of DAAD Scholarship.

2.Heinrich Böll Foundation Scholarships in Germany

The Heinrich Böll Foundation provides scholarship’s covering every degree from undergraduate to graduate, and doctoral degree of all subjects and nationalities. Applicants of this scholarship are expected to have an excellent academic record, they're expected to be socially and politically engaged and should show interest in values like ecology, democracy, human rights, self-determination, and justice. Students studying their Master's students are supposed to receive 850€ per month, plus they might get some individual allowance too. Ph.D. students are supposed to receive 1200€ per month with an additional 100€ as mobility allowance per month. 1200 scholarships are granted every year by The Heinrich Böll Foundation.

3.DeutschlandStipendium National Scholarship Programme

DeutschlandStipendium National Scholarship Programme is a public-private collaboration program where businesses, foundations, or individuals grant 150€ per month and the Federal Government grants 150€ per month to the scholarship receiver. This Scholarship is granted to students with excellent academics.

4.Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Scholarships in Germany for International Students

Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Scholarship is a program that supports foreign students, doctoral candidates, students pursuing research programs, and Postgraduate students who successfully completed their undergraduate degrees in their home country. This scholarship prioritizes Ph.D. students from developing countries and students with a keen interest in politics. Postgraduate students receive a monthly amount of 850€, Doctoral and Research candidates receive a monthly amount of 1100€. Students can also receive reimbursement up to 500€ per semester. Through this scholarship Germany wants their international networks to get promoted and develop relations between fellow countries.

5.Erasmus Scholarship Programs in Germany

Erasmus Scholarship is offered by member states of The European Union (EU), which grant scholarships for one year to exchange students. In order to be eligible to get this scholarship your last university as well as the German university you’re studying in must have signed the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education. This scholarship covers travel, enrolment, as well as basic living costs.

6.The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Scholarship

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung scholarship grants scholarships to students with exceptionally good German language skills, even if the course that you are studying is in English. This scholarship is only provided to 40 students per year, Undergraduates receive 830€ per month, while Master degree students will receive 850€ per month with prepaid health insurance.
