For International Students, the cost of studying in Ireland highly depends on the level of education as well as the duration of the course. However, a rough estimate can be obtained from the following figures:

Bachelor’s Degree- 9850 to 25,500 Euros

Master’s Degree- 9,500- 34,500 Euros

Doctoral Degree- 9,500-34,500 Euros

The living cost obviously varies largely depending on where you study in Ireland, the type of accommodation you choose and your personal lifestyle. However, it is estimated that an International Student typically spends anywhere between 7,000 to 12,000 Euros per year on living expenses in Ireland.

How much a student is entitled to work in Ireland while studying largely depends on their country of origin. Students belonging to the European Economic Area are entitled to work full-time or part-time while studying. Students who do not belong to EEA but have Stamp 2 permission are entitled to casual employment. They can work for up to 20 hours per week during their term and 40 hours per week during scheduled holidays. However, students with Stamp 2A permission are not allowed to work in Ireland.

The minimum wage rate in Ireland is 9.80 Euros an hour and International Students are also entitled to the same minimum rate of wages so long as they are able to provide all the necessary documents to their employer.

Non EU/EEA nationals who have pursued a degree from an Irish higher institution is entitled to stay back for a period of 24 months post the completion of their degree to seek employment. This rule has been introduced as a part of the Third Level Graduate Scheme Permission.

When a person has legally resided in Ireland for a period of minimum 5 years and has a General Employment Pass of Ireland along with a job that offers remuneration of 27,000 Euros per annum or more, then that person is entitled to apply for the PR of Ireland.

However, in case your occupation falls under the Critical Skills and you have a Critical Skills Permit of Ireland, you are entitled to apply for a PR within 2 years of holding the critical skills permit and a job that pays remuneration of 30,000 Euros per annum or more.

International students do require a student visa to study in Ireland. It is important to note that, a balance of 7,000 Euros which happens to be the living expense of one year in Ireland must be shown as proof of funds in order to avail an Irish Student Visa.
