Employment in Germany

Germany has the lowest unemployment rate in European Union (EU) and it is the fourth-largest economy in the world and also the largest in Europe. Germany has companies that are valued domestically as well globally and they offer a lot of job opportunities.

ADVANTAGES:

1. Income:

  • An average resident in Germany earns around €2456 a month which is more than enough to live a comfortable life.

2. Pension Fund:

  • A retired employee will be earning 67% of the gross salary once they turn 65. And it doesn't matter if you're staying in Germany or any other country.

3. Health Insurance:

  • Health Insurances are compulsory in Germany. And in most cases, you'll get a public health insurance plan through your employer.

4. Unemployment Insurance:

  • While working, an employee contributes to the Unemployment fund, This allows you to receive some portion of your wages you had in your last job. You're eligible for this if you've contributed to this fund for at least a year or two.

5. Opportunities:

  • Germany is hungry for skilled employees. As Germany is the economic powerhouse of the EU, it is very much dependent on its workforce. And statistically speaking, in 2020 Germany has three people to support every person aged over 65, and by 2035 the ratio will drop so Germany is going to be looking for a large number of skilled workers.

WORK LIFE WITH EDUCATION

A student can work up to 20 hours a week while pursuing their education. But if you're working on campus as a student or a research assistant, then the 20-hour limitation would be lifted. Students can earn up to €450 per month tax-free if they exceed this amount, taxes would be deducted automatically from your salary.

WORK LIFE AFTER EDUCATION

After Graduation, one can apply for a residence permit or EU Blue Card and extend their permit up to 18 months to find work related to their studies. The EU Blue Card can also be preferable if you intend to live and work in some other EU State. Also, if you want to stay in Germany you should start looking for employment during your final semester.
