IELTS & Other Coaching

Universities across the world require minimum scores on Foreign Going Competitive Examinations (FGCEs) such as the GMAT, GRE and SAT. Almost all universities expect applicants to appear for an English language proficiency test such as the TOEFL, IELTS, PTE or DUOLINGO. The prerequisites in terms of the examination and minimum score depend on the university and the course you decide to apply to.

Our team provides extensive coaching for the IELTS examination. The International English Language Testing System tests an applicant’s proficiency in the English language. The IELTS are conducted by the British Council and IDP in two formats - Academic IELTS (for educational and professional purposes) and General IELTS (for migrating to the UK, Canada and Australia).

The IELTS exam is divided into 4 sections - Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The speaking and listening modules are the same for academic and general IELTS, while the reading and writing modules differ. The candidate must choose the format he is appearing for.

The reading, listening and writing modules are conducted at once over a time period of 3 hours. The speaking module is conducted within the next seven days and can take up to 30 minutes. The session is conducted by an examiner who asks the candidate a few questions of randomly picked topics.

Each module holds 9 points each. Candidates are given a score on each individual module and an IELTS band score out of 9, which is an aggregate of the scores from each module. The minimum score required is 6.0 overall and no less than 5.5 in any individual module. This score is valid for 2 years.

Candidates can register for the test online on the IDP website or the British Council website. They have 48 test dates available over the year that candidates can choose from. The test costs Rs 13,250 for each attempt. Candidates can send their scores directly to 5 universities as per the STED RO list free of cost.
