Employment in USA

Employment Opportunity

Employment in the USA does not come about as easily as it does in some other countries. There are several visa-related restrictions for international students and foreign nationals which limits their employment options to on-campus jobs.

Students are not allowed to work in the first year in the country. International students can get a part-time on-campus job after the first year. They can work upto 20 hours a week and full-time during breaks and vacations, as long as the job is not taken away from an American citizen.

Studying in the USA is viewed as one of the most efficient ways to enter the country. However, the 2008 recession has made getting employment in the USA tougher than it was in the pre-recession world. Chances of getting a job in America after an undergraduate or postgraduate course are slim but not impossible. Proactive students open up doors in their industry by networking with their fellow students and faculty professionals. Visiting job fairs and career counselors in universities enables students to work towards a career after graduation.
