Ireland is a friendly and welcoming country that has one of the highest standards of living in Europe. The country ranks second in lowest corporation tax rates which resulted in an impressive number of MNS having European headquarters that provide employment opportunities.

While Studying

But in order to work as an international student in Ireland, you'd require a stamp 2 visa. As the country offers different types of visas to international students, each of them comes with a set of rules and regulations. A stamp 2 visa holder can

  • Work 20 hours/week when the semester is in progress.
  • Work 40 hours/week in the months of May, June, July, and August.
  • Work 40 hours/week from 15 Dec - 15 Jan, which is the holiday season in Ireland.

However, to be eligible to work part-time while pursuing your education in Ireland, you need to:

  • Be enrolled in a full-time course which is a minimum 1-year long course.
  • Be registered with GNIB (Garda National Immigration Bureau) or the local police.

If these criteria are met then, you'll be able to acquire a Personal Public Service Number of PPS which allows employers to pay salary.

POST-STUDY EMPLOYMENT

Students who complete their education at Master's or Ph.D. Levels are eligible to stay back in Ireland for 2 years, during which they can work up to 40 hours/week and even apply for a work or permanent residence card.

A student who has done honours undergraduate degree will be eligible to stay back in Ireland for about a year, whereas an ordinary undergraduate degree holder would be eligible to stay back for 6-months only.

Students pursuing a language or a non-degree program wouldn't be eligible for post-education stay.
