The application process for universities in New Zealand is relatively less intense than those for universities in the UK or the USA. However, it is still wise to begin the preparation 8 to 10 months in advance. Universities in New Zealand have two major intakes in a year - February and July. Students enjoy a 2-4 week break between semesters in June.
