Applications in New Zealand

The application process for universities in New Zealand is relatively less intense than those for universities in the UK or the USA. However, it is still wise to begin the preparation 8 to 10 months in advance. Universities in New Zealand have two major intakes in a year - February and July. Students enjoy a 2-4 week break between semesters in June.

Academic Prerequisites:

Professional Certificates & Technical Schools
  • Specialised training in the chosen field of study
Associate degree
  • International Baccalaureate / UK - A levels or Equivalent
Bachelor degree
  • International Baccalaureate / UK - A levels or Equivalent
Graduate certificate/diploma
  • 3 Year Bachelor degree or Equivalent
Master degree
  • Bachelor degree
Doctorate/PhD
  • Master Degree

Application Prerequisites:

  • Language Proficiency Test such as IELTS, TOEFL or PTE
  • The GMAT in the case of an MBA course with a minimum score of 650
  • Transcripts from Secondary school including university courses with credits
  • A detailed CV is mandatory with all your academic and professional qualifications
  • Letters of Recommendation from educational and professional mentors highlighting your strengths and skill sets
  • Proof of funding or intent to apply for funding for tuition fees
  • Financial aid applications (if applicable) depending on the rules of your home country and its relationship with New Zealand

Depending on the university, applicants require certification in English Proficiency even if they have students of an English-speaking school/college.
